A cement grinding plant (also called cement grinding unit or station) is a dedicated stage in cement manufacturing where clinker is finely ground with additives such as gypsum, slag, or fly ash to produce finished cement. Modern units utilize pre-grinding technology, which increases mill efficiency and reduces energy consumption by pre-crushing and micro-cracking raw materials. These plants also support sustainable practices by repurposing industrial waste by-products like slag, coal gangue, and fly ash—making them an economically and environmentally beneficial solution for urban cement production.

Clinker and desired additives
Clinker is unloaded and conveyed to the clinker warehouse, then transferred to the batching warehouse. Separately, gypsum and slag are loaded into a crusher for size reduction before being lifted into their respective storage silos for subsequent cement grinding.
Material weighing, mixing &cake feeding process
After batching, materials are conveyed to the cement mill’s steady-flow weighing bin via belt conveyor, equipped with an iron remover. They are thoroughly mixed in the bin and then uniformly fed into the cement roller press in a continuous column. Under high pressure, the material’s structure is disrupted, forming a compacted “cake” which is subsequently lifted by a hoist to the classifier for further processing.
Classification&Feedback Process
The classifier breaks up the compacted cake and separates the material into fine powder (under 6mm) and coarse powder (over 6mm). The coarse powder is returned to the cement roller press’s steady-flow bin for reprocessing, while the fine powder is fed into the cement mill. Fly ash is precisely metered by a scale, conveyed via a chute and hoist, and then introduced directly into the cement mill for grinding.
Separating and packing process
After grinding in the cement mill, materials are fed into a powder separator. Fine powder is transported via air chute and elevator to cement silos for storage, while coarse powder is returned to the cement mill for further grinding. Finished cement is dispatched in two ways: 1. Bagged Cement: Cement is unloaded from silos, conveyed via air chute and elevator to the packaging machine room for bagging. 2. Bulk Cement: Cement is directly transferred via air chute to bulk carriers for transportation.
